cable car hiking - even in summer the cable cars are open for you

the cable car will bring you to the summits even in summer. the grünwaldkopfbahn and the hochalmbahn transport you the mountain to the respective mountain station. there you can experience long hiking trails without great effort and can also master more demanding routes wonderfully with your children.

arriving at the alpine hut, you can enjoy the beautiful mountains, indulge in the warm sunshine and let yourself be pampered by the sennerinnen (dairymaid) on the alpine pasture with hearty or sweet austrian delicacies. all information about the lift prices can be found on www.ski-obertauern.at.

the new family circular trail “everything alpine” (“alles alm” in german) offers fun hiking adventures for the whole family. the picturesque pushchair-friendly trails take you through wide meadows and fenced play areas. it’s almost as if time is standing still.

“everything alpine” offers insights into the difficult but happy life of the people who lived on the gnadenalm in days gone by. at eight thematic stations, visitors learn about true stories, curiosities and interesting facts about life on the alpine pasture, everything from nature facts to information about the numerous animals.

the start and endpoint is the observation tower at the big pine, where visitors can jump right in and enjoy. here is also where the amusing “alpine quiz” (“almquiz” in german) begins.

while moving between the individual sections of the hike, visitors will be able to get learn about different topics related to the alpine pastures entertainingly, and can then enjoy the magnificent views and relax in cozy themed resting places. children are free to frolic – they can try balancing on the giant rake and scythe, they can visit the marble family in the marble construction, and can show off their jumping skills in the cow spot obstacle course, plus much more.

climbing in obertauern - alpine ropes course as a family day out

in the middle of the green and between the trees and shrubs of the forests, the alpine ropes course was built. various wooden and rope elements ask above all courage and concentration from the small and large climbers. the climbing facility is located on the hiking trail between felseralm and johannes waterfall and is easy to reach after a short walk (walking time from the grünwaldkopfbahn: 30 minutes, walking time from the gnadenalm: 50 minutes). You are also welcome to park your car at the alpine ropes course.

in july 2018, the stoneman taurista was opened in the salzburger land. a challenge that only knows winners. because every starter pedals their own race. they decide when to go, where to board and in how many stages to go. there is no competition and no evaluation. everyone rides their personal stoneman taurista tour. 123 kilometers and 4,505 vertical meters. the finisher trophy is the stone reward.

the south tyrolean roland stauder has won mountain bike races all over the world. as the overall world cup winner, he has said goodbye to the professional sport. away from the competition, he invented and realized the stoneman. first in his native south tyrol with the stoneman dolomiti, followed by the stoneman miriquidi in the ore mountains and the stoneman glaciara in valais. the stoneman taurista was created exclusively in austria. by 2025, the stoneman is to "roll" throughout europe.
